Kenya’s Christine Njoki stormed to victory in a blistering time of 31:16 on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Totalsports Women’s Race Cape Town held in support of PinkDrive, the race coinciding with South Africa’s Women’s Day celebrations.
A week ago, Njoki set a new all-comers record at the Totalsports Women’s Race in Durban in a time of 30:14, reflecting her impressive double win in 2024 when she also claimed top honours in both races.
“The race was enjoyable,” said an elated Njoki after storming to victory.
“I enjoy running. I know the competitors were there, but for me I came here to run my own race. I enjoyed the course and the fans along the road; they were cheering for me. They motivated me on the way. It feels good to run in Cape Town. I knew it was tough, and I prepared mentally for this race,” she added, as per a press release shared by Newsport Media on behalf of Totalsports Women’s Race.
“Let’s come together, support each other, motivate each other, and empower women. This has inspired me, and when I return to Kenya, I’ll know that I have motivated women in Cape Town through the Totalsports Women’s Race.”
Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports congratulated Njoki for a well-earned and inspiring victory and acknowledged the efforts of 15,000 women who took to the Streets of Cape Town on South Africa’s Women’s Day celebrations.
“Congratulations to Christine Njoki on a well-earned and inspiring victory. Well done to the entire elite field for delivering competitive racing of the highest standard.
