Premier League wrap, Liverpool frustrated, City cruise

Champions Liverpool were left fuming at a late VAR call in their 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium.
Diogo Jota continued his exceptional run for Liverpool giving the Reds the lead on the hour.
It was his ninth goal for the club following his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer.
The strike seemed adequate for a win for Liverpool until Andrew Robertson swung out a foot and clipped Danny Welbeck late on.
Referee Stuart Attwell spotted no infringement but subsequently changed his decision once he checked the pitch-side monitor.  
Neal Maupay had missed an earlier penalty for the hosts in the first period but with the pressure at fever pitch, Pascal Gross made no mistake.  
It was a third VAR call of the game that went against Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane having goals rightly ruled out for offside as Jurgen Klopp was left to rue the technology once more.
Manchester City meanwhile returned to winning ways, trouncing Burnley 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Riyad Mahrez was the standout performer for City as he scored a hattrick – his first for the club – to inspire the Citizens to a comprehensive victory.
Benjamin Mendy and Ferran Torres were the other goal scoring contributors for City who moved to the top half of the table.
Everton were surprisingly beaten 0-1 at home by Leeds United with Raphinha netting the winner for the New Boys with 11 minutes remaining.

Conor Gallagher was the match winner for West Bromwich Albion in their 1-0 success over Sheffield United at the Hawthorns.
The Blades have yet to win all season and remain bottom of the standings with just a solitary point amassed.
