Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca has died after he was involved in a car crash on Monday (November 22). The 33-year-old was on the verge of completing a move to Premier Soccer League (PSL) club AmaZulu before the incident transpired.

Ngcongca had already arrived in Durban after a loan agreement was struck between Sundowns AmaZulu. “The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation. A case of culpable homicide has been opened for investigation by Mtunzini SAPS.”

He also earned over 50 senior international caps with Bafana Bafana, including an appearance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
