Players and coaches of Rangers International FC intensified their training sessions this week as an early December 2020 date was muted for the start of the 2020/2021 NPFL season.
All of the ‘Flying Antelopes’ first-choice players, except for attacking sensation, Shedrack Asiegbu – who is going through a treatment regime – were put through their paces under the watchful eyes of technical adviser, Coach Salisu Yusuf and his deputies.
Nigeria-born Benin international Loute Isaac said while at the session that he was sure that Rangers would challenge for both the league and Aiteo cup trophies in the fast-approaching season.
“Surely, it has been very tough since the start of the pre-season but we need to go through it for us to achieve at the end of the season. With what we are being put through, I believe we are aiming for the top and we are targeting to be double champions,” stated the vastly experienced left-back.
“We don’t want what happened last year to repeat itself hence, we want to start the season on a high by giving our all in every match either home or away.”
With a tentative December 6 start date for the NPFL 2020/2021 season, Rangers are expected to make a road trip to Port Harcourt for their opening season fixture against Rivers United before returning to take on Akwa United in a matchday two fixture.
