RB Leipzig in strategic agreement with India’s FC Goa

RB Leipzig has entered a strategic cooperation agreement with Indian Super League club FC Goa. The partnership between the two clubs runs until 30th June 2023.

For Leipzig, the arrangement is a new chapter in the history of the relatively young Bundesliga club. The partnership will be the first such arrangement with a club on another continent and is part of wider strategic internationalisation measures.

One focus of the partnership will be the training and development of young players in the Indian football market. Due to the current situation surrounding the coronavirus, the implementation of these camps will first be carried out online before they can take place on-site at a later date.

Further elements of the partnership are the support provided by RB Leipzig in the area of on-site coach training as well as the exchange of know-how concerning the further development of the structures, especially in the area of youth football.

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of RB Leipzig: “We are very much looking forward to the partnership with FC Goa, because this club is a perfect fit for us with its young, modern, and innovative
approach. We want to break new ground with RB Leipzig and take our first steps internationally. Our cooperation with FC Goa is the first step of a wider internationalisation strategy. The up-and-coming and rapidly growing Indian market is perfectly suited for cooperation. The discussions with FC Goa were very open, convincing, and purposeful from the beginning. Additionally, such a partnership also offers the opportunity to
represent Bundesliga in India in the best possible way and, to a certain extent, act as an ambassador.”
