Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Spanish giants, FC Barcelona are not the only club interested in the club’s French star, Memphis Depay. Aulas claims that Italian club, AS Roma, have also shown interest in prising the Dutchman away from Ligue 1.
“Barcelona aren’t the only club, as there’s Roma too,” Aulas told Telefoot, as reported by Get French Football News.
The Dutch striker is widely expected to make the move to Camp Nou as a replacement for Luis Suarez, who is heading to Juventus for a nominal fee. The 26-year-old has been requested specifically by new Barca coach Ronald Koeman, who already worked with him as manager of the Dutch national team.
Depay is on the market because his contract with Lyon only runs to June 2021. The Giallorossi are trying to sell Cengiz Under to Napoli as part of an exchange deal for Arkadiusz Milik, although that might no longer be necessary if Edin Dzeko stays at the Stadio Olimpico.
Justin Kluivert, another Dutch player, is also on his way out of Roma this summer.
