The signature ink on the contract to appoint Stillwater Sports as the official Staging and Commercial Partner of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon was barely dry when the Two Oceans engine room, dormant for some time, kicked into life with the announcement of 11-12 April as the dates for next year’s event.

Concerned with certain aspects of delivery of the 2025 event, the City of Cape Town worked with the leadership of the Two Oceans Marathon in order to ensure the improvements, which had begun to be achieved in recent years, be accelerated to ensure one of Cape Town’s flagship events reaches the world-class organisational standards of past years.

One of the outcomes of this process was the appointment of Stillwater Sports to be responsible for the running and commercial development of the event, enabling board members to focus on their oversight role to ensure delivery and fiscal accountability throughout the process and placing the delivery of the event on a more professional basis.

With years of experience in event organisation, notably in distance running, Stillwater have proved themselves up with the best in the business, with their RUN YOUR CITY Series, the Totalsports Women Races and the AfricanX Trail Race team competition having enjoyed outstanding success through South Africa in recent years.

“The Two Oceans Marathon has a proud history, and this partnership marks a significant step forward in ensuring its future as a world-class event,” said Chris Goldschmidt, newly elected Chairman of the Board of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC. “We are confident that with Stillwater Sports’ proven expertise, alongside the continued support of Totalsports, the 2026 edition will set new benchmarks for excellence and inclusivity.

“I’ve been impressed at the commitment shown by the Stillwater team and they’ve certainly hit the ground running. Less than two days after being appointed, I’d already received their strategic plan for implementation.”

Widely known as “the world’s most beautiful marathon,” the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon continues to attract thousands of elite and recreational runners from across the globe. The confirmation of the 2026 event underscores a shared commitment by the Two Oceans Marathon NPC, and Stillwater Sports to elevate the race to new heights while celebrating its rich legacy.

“We are honoured to be entrusted with the staging and commercial delivery of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon,” said Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “This is a landmark event on the global running calendar, and with the backing of the Two Oceans Marathon Board, and Totalsports, our focus will be on delivering an excellent runner experience and importantly increasing the runner value. We look forward to getting to work immediately.”

Planning for the 2026 edition is already underway, with exciting announcements set to be made in the coming weeks.
