The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon is one of South Africa’s most iconic running events, widely celebrated as “the world’s most beautiful marathon.”
The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run will make a return on April 10, 2026 at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, with runners choosing between the 16 and 24km races.
Chris Goldschmidt, chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC confirmed the return date in a press release by Stillwater Sports, on behalf of Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, giving a flashback of how the 2025 event sold out within minutes upon return after disruptions caused by the OVID-19 pandemic.
“After a pandemic-disrupted hiatus, the trail races returned to the bouquet of events in 2025, selling out within minutes and reigniting the enthusiasm of runners across the country,” he stated.

Since their debut in 2010, he said, the iconic trail races have captured the imagination of both elite athletes and weekend adventurers alike, offering a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and challenge of Table Mountain’s trails.
“We’re excited to confirm the date for the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run. With routes that showcase breathtaking scenery and true trail running terrain, every runner will face a challenge that’s as achievable as it is exhilarating. Whatever distance you choose, a memorable adventure awaits,” said Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans.
Entries will open on January 20, 2026. There will be free entry for the distance and amp while the entry fee for 16 and 24km are R750 and R950 respectively.
Organisers say the races will start at the University of Cape Town, runners then ascend into the cool, pine-scented Newlands Forest before tackling the rugged lower slopes of Devil’s Peak, rewarded with sweeping vistas of Table Bay, Robben Island, and the Cape Peninsula reward along the way.
Entries, organisers add, will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
