Sunshine Stars manager, Gbenga Ogunbote has said his side are hugely relieved that the month of February has come and gone with its bags of misfortune for the top-flight team, in the on-going Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Owena Whales on Sunday forced Katsina United to 0-0 draw in NPFL matchday 14 clash at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, after enduring a torrid February.
Ogunbote said he is excited that March has opened new vistas for a side seeking to recover in quantums everything they lost earlier in the year.
“One point on the road is not a bad one though we would have loved it to be three points. But be it as it may, it was not a fruitless journey to Katsina.
“The clash was a difficult one so we are contented with what we were able to salvage, at least, one point is far better than no point at all.
“We do not pray for the month of February to come back again, it was a total bleak one for us in terms of result on the field of play.
“But thank God we are starting the new month of March with a draw on the road, that’s heart-warming and a sign of more good things to come.
“We pray we will be able to manage the immediate success by consolidating on it at home front.
“I’m sure the away point at Katsina United will prove to be the tonic we needed to turn around the fortune of the team,” said the former Enyimba and Enugu Rangers tactician.
The hard-earned point at Katsina United upped the Akure side to 14th position on the 20-team top-flight log. Sunshine Stars are on 17 points, nine behind league leaders, Kwara United.
Up next for Sunshine Stars is an encounter against visitors, Nasarawa United in NPFL matchday 15 at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
