FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino has stated that growing women’s football to unprecedented heights is of prime concern to the world’s football government as he marked reaching the one million followers milestone on the social media platform, Instagram.
The glitz and glam surrounding the 2023 Women’s World Cup coupled with the fanfare in the stadiums and around the fanzones are foretelling of FIFA’s desire to continously thrive women’s football.
In a question and answer session after clocking 1 million followers on Instagram, FIFA President Gianni Infantino stressed on the football institutions desire to elevate women’s football.
“Women’s football is a top priority for FIFA
Since I arrived, We have invested a lot in the developpent of the game. Not Just financial but also human ressources and technical expertise.” FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated.
“We’ve made sure that women’s football is played in every corner of the world. There were 120 countries participating in the qualifiers for the 2015 world cup but now it is 190 countries who play women’s football. At the World cup, there are almost 2 million viewers in the stadiums and 2 billion watching across the world.”

The co-hosting of the 2023 Women’s pinnacle nations global bonanza by
Australia and New Zealand has garnered lots of attention with both nations living up to the billing as worthy hosts of the football showpiece.
“Australia and New Zealand have been wonderful hosts of the World Cup. They make us all feel at home and they’ve welcomed us. They participate in the stadium, they participate in the streets, they are in the cities making big celebrations with full stadiums, there is a great crowd and incredible atmosphere.”
If the organizational prowess of both nations is being celebrated, the on-pitch action has been thrilling with massive upsets, pleasant surprises and shocking eliminations with the quick exits of favorites USA, Germany and Brazil. These eliminations have thus cleared the way for
other nations to eye the tournaments most prized asset and FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino is upbeat any nation can win the World Cup.
