Leeds inch closer to the Premier League; Man Utd win, Southampton draw

Leeds United look set to return to the Premier League as their 5-0 win over Stoke City propelled them back to the top of the Championship on Thursday night to move a point above West Bromwich Albion and six clear of Brentford in third.

Leeds now need just 7 points more to earn automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds United’s goals came from Mateusz Klich with a penalty just before the end of the first half and second half goals from Helder Costa, Liam Cooper, Pablo Hernandez and Patrick Bamford.

In the Premier League, Danny Ings scored again, netting his 19th goal of the season to earn Southampton a 1-1 draw with Everton, and at Villa Park, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba scored as Man United beat Aston Villa 3-0

Bournemouth’s hopes of avoiding relegation were dealt a blow after Callum Wilson’s goal was ruled out by VAR for handball and they finished their encounter with Tottenham goalless.
