Leeds United promoted to the Premier League, Radebe joins celebrations

Leeds United have finally made a return to the Premier League after 16 years away, thanks to Huddersfield who defeated Leeds’ closest rivals West Bromwich Albion 2-1 on Friday (July 17).

The result is a triumph for the club’s Argentine coach, Marcelo Bielsa, who suffered through a controversy last season after he had led the team on another fairytale run that ended in spying allegations.

Their story will be even more enchanting if Brentford fail to beat Stoke city or they themselves pick up a point when they visit Derby County to top out the league. However the season ends, Leeds are now guaranteed the promotion following a truly entertaining performance from the Yorkshire men.

Bielsa led Leeds to the playoffs last season but his team crashed out to Derby County. Bielsa opted to remain with the club and both coach and team reaped the rewards, spending most of the season in the top two.

Former Leeds United and South Africa Bafana Bafana captain, Lucas Radebe, joined in the celebrations on Twitter with so many others.
