Liverpool hope to continue with Austria camp

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool will carry on with pre-season training in Austria, in spite of UK coronavirus quarantine regulations which have now included Austria. The European nation was included in a list of destinations from which travellers must self-quarantine for two weeks upon their return to the UK.

The rules take effect from Saturday (August 22) but Liverpool had previously applied for exemptions. Klopp’s team plans to play two friendly matches in what is considered a “bubble”. As Klopp explained:

“We do nothing to bring anybody or ourselves into danger and we just focus on football.”

“Wherever we would be – in England, anywhere else or in Austria – we would do absolutely everything possible to make sure we create a safe place.”

“We have trained, apart from two days, every day twice, which makes it really intense. We could do that at home but then the boys have to drive home and from a training point of view, it makes no sense.”
