Nigerian and En Avant de Guingamp striker, Desire Oparanozie has said the quest for new challenges informed her decision to leave Les Rouge et Noir (The Reds and Blacks).
The Nigerian international’s contract with the French D1 Feminine (D1F) side was due to elapse in June, 2020.
However, the French Football Federation decided to cancel the 2019/20 after 16 matches due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, leaving Oparanozie free to explore new horizons.
“Yes, I have left Guingamp after the federation abruptly cancelled the 2019/20 season due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
“After six years in the colours and duties of Les Rouge et Noir I want new challenges, I think I’m ripe and ready to experience something different and new elsewhere,” she said.
Oparanozie did not immediately disclose the next port of call.
“The next experience destination is still processing and moving on, I’m positive it will be an experience that will be worthwhile.
“Right now I have not decided where to head to but surely it could be anywhere, Europe, Asia, America, among others,” said the lethal Nigerian finisher.
Guingamp finished the 12-team top-flight league in sixth position, on 23 points – 21 behind champions, Olympique Lyonnaise.
The Nigerian goal queen captained the Super Falcons to the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup in France where their campaign ended in the round of 16 after a 0-3 defeat by former champions, Germany.
Oparanozie joined the Division 1 Feminine side following a brief spell at Turkish women’s league team, Ataşehir Belediyespor, in 2014.
