Technical Manager of Rivers United FC Stanley Eguma believes that Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game against Enyimba will be anything but straightforward.
United will go toe to toe with the country’s most successful football club at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba in a testy NPFL match day 31 clash. The Port Harcourt club defeated Plateau United 3-1 in midweek in their last league game while Enyimba were held to a 1-1 draw by Warri Wolves on the same day.
A win for United on Sunday could see them move up to second on the standings if other results go their way. Eguma is keen to see his wards claim a creditable result.
“It’s a big game and it’s a rival opponent,” Eguma told SPNAfricaNews. “Enyimba versus Rivers United any day, anytime is a cracker.
“It is a game between teams who know each other very well and not only the three points, but pride is at stake.
“We hope we are going to give a good account of ourselves and ensure that we don’t drop points in Aba.”
Both teams are separated by a point and a place on the standings with United placed fourth and Fatai Osho’s Elephants placed fifth.
