Serena Williams has described Roger Federer as the greatest tennis player of all time (GOAT).
Federer has collected 20 Grand Slam titles (the most of any male player in history) and has won 103 career titles (the second most in history).
The many accomplishments of the 38-year-old Swiss who has racked up well over $128 million in prize money in a glittering career has not gone unnoticed by the legendary American who was quick to brand Federer as the GOAT.
Serena faced Federer at the 2019 Hopman Cup 2019 as the Swiss partnered his compatriot, Belinda Bencic while Williams was in tandem with the American, Frances Tiafoe.
“I was so excited, and literally it was the match of my career. Just playing someone so great, and someone you admire so much, and a match that actually means something – it’s not often that happens,” Serena said.
“It was really cool to play someone still in their prime, like me, both in our primes. I’m kind of sad it’s over. I mean the guy is the greatest of all time, both on and off the court,” the 23-time Grand Slam champion added.
Meanwhile, Serena she is now on full-time mom duty while practicing self-quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 38-year-old American has been posting moments she has been spending with her 2-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr on social media.
The outbreak of the coronavirus means that live tennis is not certain to return any time soon and Serena may be continuing with her new regime for the foreseeable future.
