Andre Pierre-Gignac scored twice as Mexican club, Tigres UANL came from behind to beat South Korean outfit Ulsan Hyundai FC 2-1 at the FIFA Club World Cup on Thursday (February 4).

The win was enough to see Tigres progress to the semi-final of the competition. They will now meet South American champions, Palmeiras.

Ulsan Hyundai were quicker out of the blocks at the Ahmed bin Ali Satdium, Al Rayyan and duly took the lead on 24 minutes. Kim Kee-hee powered home a glancing header from a tight angle off an excellently delivered corner kick.

Tigres however hit back and were soon on level terms through Pierre-Gignac who swept home with the inside of his right boot after the Ulsan defence failed to clear their lines. Pierre-Gignac then netted the winner on the stroke of halftime from the penalty spot as the Mexicans went into the break with their tails firmly up.

The semi-final between Tigres and Palmeiras will be played on February 7 at the Education City Stadium, Al Rayya.
