Wolves crash out of Europa League

Wolves’ saw their Europa League dream come to a devastating end Tuesday night (August 11), thanks to a late goal by Sevilla. Lucas Ocampos’ header from Ever Banega’s cross gave the Spaniards enough to book a semi-final against Manchester United on Sunday (August 16).

Sevilla are on a rich vein of form, going unbeaten for 19 games in all competitions as they look to add to their previous 5 Europa League titles. The winner of the tie with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will have to contend with either Inter Milan or Shakhtar Donesk in the final.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will miss out on European competition next season after finishing seventh in the Premier League, in what had been a glorious campaign for Wolves before the pandemic.
